Fairman, Draper, Underwood & Company Proof Advertising Sheet. 1824. Philadelphia. 16" x 17 1/2". With over fifty intaglio engraved vignettes, counters and end panels by one of the premier bank note companies of the 1820s & 1830s. "2" in the white box in the top border. Printed at a time when many banks realized that their very existence depended on the use of high quality, complex, and artistic vignettes on their banknotes in order to prevent counterfeiting. The vignette at the top center is a perfect example - William Penn's Treaty with the Indians. The two small birds at the bottom (Running Grouse) attributed to James Audobon. Lightly pasted on a black paper sheet. VF detail, but there are numerous tears and splits that have been repaired with tape. A perfect display piece.

Estimate: 700 - 1400
