Charles II (1660-85), Five-Guineas, 1673, carolvs. ii. dei. gratia, first laureate bust right, pointed truncation, rev. inverted die axis, mag. br. fra. et. hib. rex., four crowned shields cruciform, eight strings to Irish harp, sceptres in angles, cross of four interlinked Cs in centre, edge with inverted raised letters *. decvs. et. tvtamen. anno. regni. vicesimo. qvinto * (MCE 8; Schneider -; S.3328), a spectacular example, a few light hairlines under a remarkable deep rich red tone, extremely fine with lustrous original surfaces, an exceptional coin with an exemplary provenance and very rare thus.
