Elizabeth I (1558-1603), Groat, 1.99g, First issue, 1559-60, m.m. lis, crowned bust left, wire-line and beaded inner circle, rev. shield over long cross fourchée, wire-line and beaded inner circle (B&C 1F; N.1986; S.2551), very small edge split around 5 o'clock and with evidence of creasing resulting in flan stress in front of bust, old scratches but this piece certainly with appeal and a good specimen of the type, toned, mostly full and evenly struck, a strong very fine, scarce.
