China People's Republic 10 Yuan 1953 Pick 870
The 1953 10 Yuan note is among the most coveted of modern Chinese notes. Attrition was high because of the economic turmoil in the decades after it was issued. As a high denomination, it was far out of the reach of much of the public, amounting to as much as three months worth of labor. This PMG Extremely Fine 40 piece is a most pleasing problem-free example. There are three bends that account for the grade. The corners are sharp and the colors excellent, adding to the eye appeal. The Ruth Hill example offered by us in April of last year realized over $28,000 and was grading Very Fine 35, with minor mounting remnants. With a higher grade and great eye appeal, we expect this piece will easily exceed that price.
