Essequibo & Demerary
British Colony - George III gilt-copper Proof Stiver 1813 PR63 Cameo NGC, London mint, KM10a, Pridmore-29b. As with the previous 1/2 Stiver, the strike is superb, as normal for royal Mint special issues. The devices are heavily frosted, with fully mirrored fields. A number of small contact marks, on both sides, prevent a higher grade. These early Royal mint "Gilt" issues are quite rare, with only two examples certified by NGC. Pridmore states in his description of the Gilt Stiver, "The gilt proofs are one of the few examples of R.M. strikings in that metal. There is no record of the striking of gilt proofs in the R.M. after 1821.From the Coin Cabinet of Isaac Rudman

Estimate: 3000-3500 USD
