George II "Lima" Shilling 1745 MS63 NGC, Royal mint, KM583.2, S-3703, ESC-1724. 'LIMA' variety; old head. Deeply toned, with an attractive blue-gray iridescence and underlying luster. In addition to being one of the greatest examples of the type offered, this piece has the distinction of being from a presentation set once owned by Admiral Anson (or one of his captains), given as testaments to the sea prize captured by the buccaneers from the Spanish off the Philippine islands. Likely, the coins from these sets represent the initial striking of the LIMA series from the seized silver.Ex. Heritage 425, lot 51674.From the RichLyn Collection
