Battle of Waterloo Gutta Percha Obverse and Reverse Medallic Casting Impressions (1815), Eimer-1067b., BHM-870. 134mm. By Pistrucci. An extremely rare variant of this famous medal, cast in gutta percha, a plastic-like resinous substance that was popular during the period, with a plaster backing. As is typical of medals produced in this manner, the finish has a crackled effect from age, but careful handling is evident given its apparent fragility. The medals rest side-by-side in their original custom plush-lined black-varnished metal case.
