Trajan (98-117). Orichalcum Dupondius (28mm, 13.40 gm, 6h). Rome, AD 114-117. IMP CAES NER TRAIANO OPTIMO AVG GER DAC PARTHICO P M TR P COS VI P P, radiate and draped bust of Trajan right / SENATVS POPVLVSQVE ROMANVS, Trajan standing right in general's dress, head left, between two military trophies, S C in exergue. RIC 676. Cohen 356. Attractive natural green patina. NGC Choice AU 5/5 - 4/5 Fined Style. This handsome military reverse type records the heady moment when Trajan's campaigns in the East seemed completely victorious on all fronts. However, Roman forces had merely overrun most of Iraq, not truly subjugated it, and native uprisings would soon undo nearly all of these gains.

Estimate: 1800-2400 USD
