British India. Victoria - East India Company gold Mohur 1841.-(C) AU53 NGC, Calcutta mint, S&W-3.7. Type A/1. "W.W." Plain 4. A popular gold type featuring the emblematic prowling lion with residual luster that peeks through otherwise antiqued, golden surfaces. Several minor contact marks upon the bust of Victoria and in the surrounding fields, as well as moderate wear across the highpoints, most likely define the grade. Well-collected at all levels, but increasingly more collectible in grades that approach a Mint State designation.
