Moulay al-Hasan I Dirham AH1299 SP64 Cameo NGC, Paris mint, Y5, Lecompte-114a (Paris flan bruni). Superbly struck, with fully mirrored fields and nicely frosted devices. This piece is undoubtedly one of the examples Lecompte designates as a "Paris flan bruni" (a polished planchet, or Proof striking) and lists a mintage of only 5 pieces. KM lists proofs with only 2 pieces known and we do not know where they have received their information. In any event, it is extremely rare and the only example we have seen of this special presentation striking.
