David II (1329-71) Groat 1357-67 AU58 NGC, Edinburgh mint, Second coinage of 1357-67, S-5091, Burns-12 (Fig. 259). + DΛVID + DЄI + GRΛ + RЄX + SCOTORVM ★, young bust left breaking a plain tressure of six arcs / + DnS P | TЄCTOR | MS Ƶ LIB | ΛTOR MS || VILL | Λ + ЄD | INBV | RGh, long cross over concentric legend and mint name with pierced mullets in quarters. Without doubt one of the most attractive examples of any type of David II Groat this cataloger has handled. The strike is near-perfectly centered on a broad and fully-round flan, leaving clear legends and a superb portrait. Subtle residual luster lends a glow to the light iridescence of the old cabinet tone. From the RichLyn Collection
