S * LADISLAVS REX *, St. Ladislaus standing slightly right, holding axe and orb. highly lustrous and very lightly toned. Well centered and struck for issue. An exceptional example from the always popular Transylvanian series.Sigismund was elected Price of Transylvania at the early age of nine. When he was 16, he was advised to oppose the Ottomans in order to preserve his country's independence. He later abdicated and tried, without success, to reclaim his throne, being rebuked by Michael the Brave each time.
