ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 500-480 BC. AR tetradrachm (23mm, 17.31 gm, 8h). Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet with bowl unadorned save for single dotted annulet near neck guard, hair shown in parallel dotted plaits along forehead / Owl standing right, head facing, olive sprig to left; A-ΘE to right; all within incuse square. HGC 4, 1590. Seltman Group G. Svoronos pl. 5, 5. Edge flan flaw at top of head, otherwise a fine example of the archaic Athenian coinage, with a detailed and perfectly centered reverse.
