Ferdinand VII 8 Reales 1811 P-JF VF35 NGC, Popayan mint, KM71. Well detailed and choice for the assigned grade with partial luster in the recessed areas of the legends and even wear over problem-free surfaces. A most attractive specimen of the historically important and very rare first confirmed date of this elusive type (the ex Calbeto – Von Schuckmann example of the 1810 was an altered date), no examples of which are known in Mint State. The Ferdinand VII 8 Reales struck at the Popayan mint rank together with the Charles III 8 Reales of the Santiago de Chile mint as the rarest of all silver Colonial bust 8 Reales issues, the only available date being the 1814/3 one. Truly desirable in this unflawed quality and an important opportunity for the Colombian specialist.
