Cuba
Republic gold Proof 20 Pesos 1915 PR62 PCGS, Philadelphia mint, KM21, Fr-1. A most attractive coin, nearly choice Proof with deeply reflective surfaces, a needle sharp strike and the mild surface abrasions expected for the assigned grade. Struck at the Philadelphia mint from dies engraved by Charles Barber to the exact specification of the United States double eagle of the period. Actual mintage in unknown but currently estimated at less than 50 pieces, with unimpaired specimens particularly elusive: indeed, only 10 such specimens are currently included in the NGC census. The key issue to complete a Cuban gold set and bound to attract sustained bidding in this charming quality.
Estimate: 30000-40000 USD
