Cooch Behar. British Protectorate - Jitendra Narayan gold Nazarana Mohur CB404 (1914) MS65 NGC, KM-XM8. A sublime example of gold medallic coinage with honey-tinged surfaces and pinpoint instances of attractive, coppery tone. Fully-prooflike fields absolutely dazzle upon rotation, and frosty, illustrative design motifs soar above the surrounding flash. According to the Bruce Catalog of Unusual World Coins, this issue has a mintage of just 100 pieces, and at present time this offering is the singular certified example of the date by NGC, and finest example of only three certified pieces by NGC and PCGS combined. Exceedingly rare as such. We can reference only two previous sales of the 1914 issue of this type, the first by Baldwin's in their 2013 sale of the David Fore Collection in a similar condition to the current piece, for a hammer price of approximately $25,000; and the second by Baldwin's in their 2014 sale of the Ake Linden Collection, in damaged condition, for a hammer price of approximately $11,000. Obviously, the most recent coin was not even close to the condition of this Gem example. From the Nob Hill Collection

Estimate: 15000-20000 USD
