Netherlands East Indies
Dutch Colony - Batavian Republic gold Gulden 1802 UNC Details (Obverse Scratched, Cleaned) NGC, Enkhuizen mint, cf. KM83 (for silver striking), Sch-489 (RRR). Off-Metal Striking in Gold. Very rare, with gleaming orange-gold surfaces and meticulous detail throughout the central ship and shield as well as the surrounding legends. As was often done with large golden pieces, this example likely resided in the bezel at one time, with small edge marked evident on the obverse rims at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock, and several pinscratches to the left of the ship that are of greater focal significance. As previously mentioned, very rare, and a fitting showpiece inside a collection of Asian territorial issues.
Estimate: 4000-5000 USD
