In the 10 years since CGS has been grading coins only two other pre 1750 gold coins have an 80 grade those being a Half Guinea of 1725 and a Guinea of 1713, As for current market indicators Five Guineas in EF of George II can be seen on display at UK coin shows around the £45,000 marker and it was reported to us by the seller and an independent source corroborated that a Charles II 5 Guineas in NGC 61 sold at the March MSCF show for £78,000, the read across table compiled empirically by CGS collectors suggest that USA slabbed coins in MS61 average CGS 65 grade. Regardless of the technically grade and price this is a spectacular coin surely never to be matched for eye appeal and beauty.
