CHINA. 2000 Yuan, 1992. Lunar Series, Completion of Lunar Cycle. PCGS PROOF-64 DEEP CAMEO Secure Holder.
cf.Fr-B63; KM-437. EXTREMELY RARE kilogram size solid gold coin struck after the completion of the twelve year Lunar Cycle for which coinage had been struck since 1981. Only 20 pieces of this type were struck and hence it is one of the rarest modern Chinese coins in general. Of the original mintage of 20 this is stamped as serial #20 and has the matching certificate of authenticity accompanying it. The obverse designs from each of the eleven preceding lunar animal issues as well as the 1992 Year of the Monkey design are lovingly recreated on the obverse of this massive piece being slightly overlapped in a ring around a Yin Yang Bagua. The reverse is dominated by a huge depiction of the White Pagoda of Beihai. The frosted devices are all very attractive and complete with no breaks or missing flecks. The hard mirror surfaces are entirely lustrous, some hallowing can be seen around the devices of the reverse and a few very light hairlines can be found if scrutinized heavily. There is a thin point of contact in the mirrored half of the obverse Yin Yang which accounts for the slightly lower grade. A few small copper spots can be noted, mostly relegated to the outer rim. The only example to have been graded by PCGS and only the fifth graded overall. An incredibly difficult coin to find let alone be offered for sale, the chance to obtain this key piece of modern Chinese numismatics should not be missed. PCGS PROOF-64 DEEP CAMEO Secure Holder.

Estimate: $240000.00- $280000.00
