BRITISH 18TH CENTURY TOKENS, WALES, Uncertain Issuer, Imitation Copper Penny (3), 1790, all edge ON DEMAND IN LONDON LIVERPOOL OR ANGLESEY, obv Druid's head left within thin oak wreath and outer border of acorns, twenty-one acorns in wreath, rev P M Co cypher, 1790, WE PROMISE TO PAY THE BEARER ONE PENNY, curved 1 and 7 (Atkins p.273, 120; D&H Anglesey 253); obv twenty-one acorns in wreath (2) (Conder p.2, 9; Atkins p.273, 121; D&H Anglesey 254, 254a). D&H 253 extremely fine for issue and very rare, D&H 254 from the fractured obverse die, minor spots and a little discolouration on the reverse, otherwise good extremely fine with faded colour remaining, D&H 254a from a perfect state of the obverse die on a thin planchet, small spot, otherwise extremely fine for issue, very rare.
