BRITISH 18TH CENTURY TOKENS, SCOTLAND, Thomas & Alexander Hutchinson, Thomas Hutchison (1744-1812), and his brother, Alexander (1743-1823), merchants, Edinburgh, Copper Halfpenny, 1791, obv figure of St Andrew with his cross, between thistles, NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT around, top rightcorner of cross points to centre of L of LACESSIT, middle leaf of right thistle points below the stop, 1 to left of toe of right foot, 7 under heel of right foot, 9 just to right of centre of left foot, 1 under space between robe and cross, rev arms of Edinburgh on a shield, between thistles, crest an anchor, EDINBURGH HALFPENNY around, stop after HALFPENNY, no bands on anchor stock, top leaf on right thistle points to stop, top leaf on left thistle points below E of EDINBURGH, edge plain (D&H unlisted, noted as D&H Lothian 34a). Struck from the dies of DH Lothian 34 on an unidentified Lothian Halfpenny with a plain edge, obverse once gilt, likely unique.
