BRITISH 18TH CENTURY TOKENS, SCOTLAND, SCOTTISH FARTHINGS, Dundee, J M & Co, Copper Farthing, obv pair of scales above J M & Co cypher, PAYABLE ON DEMAND DUNDEE around, downstroke of M to first limb of U of DUNDEE, rev sentinel on duty, breach of a cannon to left, part of a fort to right, edge plain (Conder p.13, 13; Pye p.17, 4; Virt p.135; Atkins p.297, 24; D&H Angusshire 39); obv downstroke of M between D and U of DUNDEE, edge plain (D&H Angusshire 39bis). First good extremely fine with some faded colour remaining, second with a little detritus on the surface, otherwise better than very fine and very rare. (2)
