Potosi, Bolivia, cob 8 reales, 1652E transitional Type VII, from the Maravillas (1656). S-P37; KM-A20.7; CT-unl. 25.73 grams. Very solid flan with light surface corrosion only (AXF details), full interiors but the shield slightly off-center, nicely toned all over, with parts of all three dates visible. In addition to being an excellent example of this subtype, this coin is also one of the best we have seen from this wreck. Note what appears to be a bold H at top is actually HP in monogram.
