Constantine VI & Irene, 780-797. Follis (Bronze, 19mm, 2.86 g 6), Constantinople, 792-797. Facing bust of Irene, wearing loros and crown with cross, four pinnacles and pendilia, holding globus cruciger in her right hand and cross-tipped scepter with her left. Rev. Half bust of Constantine VI over horizontal bar, wearing crown with cross and chlamys, and holding globus cruciger in his right hand and anexikakia in his left; below bar, large M between X - N and beneath, A. DOC 7. SB 1598. Rare. A lovely piece with a fine light green patina. Struck on a slightly short flan, otherwise, good very fine.
