During the year 175 Aurelius had to deal with further incursions across the Danube by the Germanic Iazyges and a rebellion in Syria led by Avidius. Distracted from dealing with either event as thoroughly as he might have wished, the clemency alluded to on this issue may refer to the unusually lenient terms offered to both these adversaries
