The dies for these coins were prepared by Norbert Roettiers, commissioned by James Prince of Wales for a planned Coronation at Scone for 23 January 1716 after a second invasion of Scotland in 1715. However it never came to fruition and James returned to exile in France. The dies for some of the proposed coins later found their way to the coin dealer Matthew Young who had them polished ready to restrike coins. (2500 - 3000 GBP)
