The town of Anyi was, from 453 to 365, the first capital of the kingdom of Wei. In 352 the town was taken by the armies of the kingdom of Ch'in, but was later restituted to Wei. In 286 Anyi was finally annexed by Ch'in and its population deported. The weight of the heavy spades of 2 chin of Anyi ranges from 24 to 31 g, with an average of 27 g. Though specimens with a weight between 20 and 24 g are not unusual, pieces with a weight under the 20 g are seldom met with. Only 2 specimens mentioned by Mitchiner have a weight of 19 g and 17,5 g.
