ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 165-42 BC. AR tetradrachm (28mm, 16.87 gm, 11h). NGC AU 5/5 - 4/5. New Style coinage, struck 135/4 BC, Mened(emos), Epigen(es), and Alex(andros), magistrates. Head of Athena right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with vine scroll, flying Pegasus and protomes of four horses / Owl standing right, head facing, on amphora; A-ΘE above ME-NEΔ, EΠI-ΓENO, AΛΕΞ in five lines across field; to left, Asclepius standing left, holding serpent-entwined staff; K on amphora, HΓ below; all within wreath. Thompson 353m (same obverse die). HGC 4, 1635. Obverse die break in field. Crisply struck in high relief and quite attractive.
