AVT KO VAΛЄΡIANOC CЄB, radiate, draped bust of Valerian right / ΔΑΡ ΜOΥЄ-ΑΤΩΝ, river god Pyramus reclining left on bridge over flowing river supported by five arches, Δ-Ω-Ρ-Є-Α ("gift") within each arch, triumphal arch at each end, ΠΥΡΑMOC below. SNG France 2998. SNG Levante 1359. Rare, with a complex and intriguing architectural reverse. Glossy green patina. This intriguing type clearly states the Imperial government gifted Mopsus with the elaborate bridge depicted on the reverse, evidence that the Roman state still had considerable resources in in times of crises like the mid-third century AD.
