Bolivia
Republic silver "Simon Bolivar - Liberator" Medal 1825 MS63 NGC, Potosi mint, Fonr-9463. A lovely example of this large silver medal that was struck in Potosi, Bolivia as an expression of gratitude for Simon Bolivar's efforts during its liberation from Spain. Produced in exceptionally high quality for the period, the detail within Bolivar's military bust is refreshingly pronounced, as is the city, mountain and sunface motif on the reverse. As an item that was of obvious great sentimental value, this example has been preserved far better than most seen, with all-over golden-gray patina suggesting long-term cabinet placement. For the many collectors of Bolivar-related issues, this medal should certainly excite!
