Newfoundland. George VI Cent 1944-C MS64 Red and Brown PCGS, Royal Canadian mint, KM18. A notable key to the series, and a date that is likely missing from many collections, this small cent issue features outstanding surfaces in a lustrous cherry-brown color, with coppery iridescence that clings to the raised portions. Bordering on Gem, the central designs are rather pleasing, and bear just a touch of softness at the highest points, while the obverse portrait of the King manages to delight from all angles. Just a bit of chatter in the open expanses ultimately precludes a finer designation, but even so, this is a conditional rarity in its own right.Ex.
