George II Crown 1743 MS63 NGC, Royal mint, KM585.1, S-3688, ESC-124. D. Septimo edge. Obv. Laureate and draped bust of George II left. Rev. Crowned cruciform shields with roses in the angles. The strike is superb, with near-flawless surfaces. The obverse exhibits iridescent battleship-gray toning, with lighter shades of gray, and a touch of golden highlights, around the periphery. The reverse displays argent-gray color with lighter peripheral gray and golden highlights. A conservatively graded example of this conditionally rare issue, and one of the finer pieces we have seen.
