Roettier, 45mm, Eimer-247, Hildebrand 1/396/25, commemorating Charles XI of Sweden created Knight of the Garter in 1671. Obv. St. George and the Dragon, with the date, 29.MAII.1671, in exergue. Rev. Collar of the Order, and Garter, with Star of the Order in the center. Listed by PCGS under Sweden, but also listed by Eimer in his book on British medals. We are listing it under the Great Britain section, as it has validity in this area. Superbly engraved, with lustrous, minimally marked surfaces and pleasing original toning. A very scarce issue.
