CHINA--FOREIGN BANKS. Banque De L'Indo-Chine. 1 Dollar, 1901. P-S436p. Proof. PCGS Gem New 66 PPQ.
(S/M#T204-1) Canton Shameen. Printed by A. Bramtot et G Duval FEC. This note kicks off our offering of four extremely rare and immaculately preserved, Banque de l'Indo-Chine Banknotes. The primary focus of the Banco de L'Indochine notes prior to the decree of May 16th 1900 was for use in French Colonies. This decree when signed provided the bank to operate until 1920 and also gave permit to operate within China and Siam. Nearly a year after signing the Canton branch was established in March of 1901. The time delay was largely due to the Boxer rebellion creating hardships. This note shows the Director signature of Stanislas Simon and Administrative signature of Baron Hely D'Oissel. The note shows the appeal of a full Gem New example with nice detail of the bordering design and overprints. Seen also with desirable embossing on fully original paper. PCGS Gem New 66 PPQ.

Estimate: $50000.00- $60000.00
