CHINA. Order of the Striped Tiger Second Class Breast Star & Third Class Sash Badge & Wreath, ND (Instituted 1912). NEARLY MINT STATE.
Barac-375, 376; Li-63, 64; Vernon-20, 22; Werlich-248, 249. The Star is 91 mm with eight rayed multi-color arms surmounted by an inner gilt-silver eight point multi-rayed plaque with two silver stars at the top. At the center is a seated tiger in natural colors. The reverse, in gilt silver, is plain and bears one hinged and two fixed tunic pins. The 70 x 100 mm Badge is similar in design, but with a single silver star at the top of the gilt inner plaque. The reverse is blank and the badge is suspended from an enameled wreath and ribbon hanger. The neck ribbon is in red-edged light green moire. This mixed set is housed in what appears to be a case for a First Class Order of the Striped Tiger set, in black-laquered wood, which is essentially complete, but now missing the 3 tiny screws that attach the hinge to the lid. There are also some areas where the paint has "bubbled" and flaked away along the right edge of the lid. The Star and Badge both with complete and sound enamels. NEARLY MINT STATE.

Estimate: $6000.00- $8000.00
