Sicily, Syracuse, Hieron II, (275-215 B.C.), gold drachm or sixty litrai (4.27 g), struck circa 275-263 B.C., obv. head of Persephone left with long flowing hair, wearing wreath of grain ears, single-pendant earring, and necklace, cornucopia behind, rev. charioteer, holding kentron in right hand, reins in left, driving fast biga right, pellet below horses, IERWNOS in exergue. (cf.S.983, Hunterian 225, Boston 474, Carroccio 7). Minor scratch on horse, otherwise extremely fine or better and rare.
