20.4 x 28.5 cm. Silver and wood. A shield-shaped dark carved wooden base with a floral carving at the top upon which is mounted a floral-edged silver plaque engraved: "As a / MEMENTO / of our Pleasant Association / on the Investigation of the Chinese Government Railways / this Shield is Presented / to / J. J. MANTELL, ESQ. / Advisor to the Ministry of Railways / by / S. T. WANG H. A. PAN JICK G. WONG / Members of the Ministry of Railways. / Shanghai, Feb. 5th 1930 /" followed by an 8 line Chinese inscription. An attractive, and certainly interesting award for service to the government of China. EXTREMELY FINE.
