Indian Half Eagles
1909-O $5 AU58+ NGC. The 1909-O is the rarest Indian five in Mint State, making this Plus-graded near-Mint coin an attractive candidate to fill an open slot in either a high-end circulated set, or fit seamlessly into a mid-grade Uncirculated collection. It is unquestionably the series key issue in grades MS60 to MS63, surpassing both the 1911-D and the 1929 for honors at those collector-favored levels.
The eye appeal and surface quality of this high-end About Uncirculated coin will rival most fully Mint State examples. Warm, honey-gold overtones add interest to the smooth and attractive khaki-gold coloration. Abrasions are minor and the mintmark is suitably bold. Soft mint luster remains prominent throughout the sharply defined motifs. Census: 7 in 58+, 142 finer (1/17).
