Cuba Banco Nacional de Cuba 5 Pesos ND (1905) Pick 67. The 5 Peso denomination of the 1905 series has a large oval portrait of Jose Maria Garcia Montes who served as Secretary of the Treasury and on the Supreme Court. Montes, was born in Havana in 1849 and died in 1926. The back, which is common to all four denominations, shows a detailed view of the Morro Castle, a fortress built in 1589 to defend Havana and its harbor from attack. Most authorities believe that only one of the four denominations, the 10 Peso issue, was actually released into circulation. This lovely ABNCo produced note grades Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ per PMG and is uncancelled. Knowledgeable collectors understand that the appearances of uncancelled non-Proof and non-Specimen examples of this Cuban treasure are few and far between. From The EMO Collection HID08701242017
