Severus Alexander, 222-235. Denarius (Silver, 18mm, 3.07 g 6), Antioch, 222. IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of the young Severus Alexander to right. Rev. AEQVITAS AV Aequitas standing left, holding scales and cornucopiae. Cf. BMC 1033, Cohen 11 and RIC 274 (but none with AV for AVG on the reverse and all only recorded without a cuirass on the obverse - though such busts are surely known). An elegant, sharply struck coin. Some minor marks, otherwise, good extremely fine.
From the Stoecklin Collection, from the collection of Dr. Lesic in Belgrad, and from the Niš Hoard of the early 1930s ("Niška Kamenc").
