Theodosius II, 402-450. Solidus (Gold, 21mm, 4.46 g 6), Constan­tinople, 420-422. D N THEODO - SIVS P F AVG Helmeted, diademed and cuirassed bust of Theodosius II facing, turned slightly to the right, holding spear in his right hand and with a shield ornamented with a cavalryman spearing a fallen foe over his left shoulder. Rev. VOT XX - MVLT XXX / CONOB Victory standing left, holding long jeweled cross. Depeyrot 74/2. RIC 219. An attractive example, struck on a broad flan. A few minor scratches and faults, otherwise lustrous and extremely fine.
