GUATEMALA: Carlos III, 1759-1788, AR 8 reales, 1770-G, KM-27.2, Cr-23, Gilboy-G-8-19a, assayer P, Pillar type, variety with ETIND as one word, die clash on obverse, NGC graded EF45, R2 (Gilboy), ex Richard Stuart Collection. This type has a diameter of about 40mm up through 1768. From 1769 to 1771, though, the diameter was reduced to 37-38mm. This is why the later Pillar coins have many peripheral letters partly off flan, although this particular piece is nearly complete.
