MENKUJAKIDS: Fakhr al-Din Bahramshah, 1167-1225, AV dinar (4.07g), "al-Qahira", "AH589", A-V1892, a proper die of Bahramshah b. Da'ud b. Ishaq coupled with an imitative die based on a dinar of Saladin (al-Nasir Yusuf b. Ayyub) for al-Qahira 589, VF, RRR. This and the following lot are from a small group, also containing imitations of purely Fatimid dinars, including lot #460 in this auction. The obverse marginal legend is fakhr al-dunya wa'l-din 'izz al-islam wa'l-muslimin (a)mir al-umara followed by one undeciphered word, as reconstructed from this piece and the following lot. The year AH589 marks the death of Saladin, towards the middle of the ruler of Bahramshah, with his capital at Erzincan in eastern Anatolia.
