Octavian as Augustus, 27 BC – 14 AD. Denarius, Colonia Patricia (?) circa 18-17/16 BC, AR 3.99 g. S P Q R CAESARI – AVGVSTO Bare head r. Rev. QVOD – VIAE MVNITAE SVNT Triumphal arch on viaduct, surmounted by Augustus, driving quadriga of horses right; Victory standing behind Augustus, crowning him; to l. and r. of arches a rostrum. C 233. Very rare and possibly the finest specimen known of this interesting issue. Struck
on a very broad flan and exceptionally complete. Good extremely fine
