Sicily, Syracuse, silver tetradrachm, 410-405 BC, by Euainetos and Eukleides, fast quadriga travelling right with Nike flying above to crown charioteer; in exergual area below, a wheel on its side, rev., [ΣΥ]ΡΑΚΟΣΙΟΣ, head of Arethusa left, her hair held in ampyx and sphendone; four dolphins around, 17.14g, die axis 6.00, die break on obverse, about very fine and toned. References: Tudeer 37; SNG ANS 266, same dies; Boston 404, same dies. Provenance: Goldberg Auction 62, Beverly Hills, 1 February 2011, lot 3037. Note: Although not visible on this specimen the obverse bears the signature ΕΥΑΙΝΕΤΟ in tiny letters on the exergual line and the reverse is signed ΕΥΚΛΕΙ on the ampyx worn by Arethusa.
