GREAT BRITAIN. Silver Medal, 1714. PCGS AU Details-Rim Damage.
For the arrival of King James I in England. 67mm. Eimer-466; VanLoon V-252. By John Croker. Laureate, draped and armoured bust right, with inscription around. The reverse features the King, as Neptune, arriving at the British coast in his hippocampus-drawn marine car, accompanied by mermaids and cherubs. Already monarch of Brunswick-Lüneburg (Hanover), he became the King of England and the founder of the House of Hanover on the death of his second cousin, Queen Anne, as he was her closest non-Catholic relative. A large impressive medal, quite scarce in silver. In choice condition, but suffering - slightly - from 1 obverse and 4 reverse rim bumps which are noted on the PCGS holder. Even silver-gray patina, lightening on the higher parts of the design. Typical contact marks are noted in the fields of both sides.
PCGS AU Details-Rim Damage.
Estimate: $600.00- $800.00
