GREAT BRITAIN. Silver Medal, 1760. PCGS AU Details-Tooled.
For the accession of George III. 55mm. Eimer-682; BHM-1; Pingo-16. By Thomas Pingo. Youthful bust of George III to the left, armored and draped. Legend GEORGIUS TERTIUS REX on a banner around, and his accession date in small letters below the bust. The reverse features Tellus, seated at right and flanked by a pair of lions as she plays a cymbal for four maidens dancing around an oak tree. The design of the medal is heavily adapted from another medal, Eimer-666, issued just a year earlier, which noted the future king attaining his majority. The major design elements of this sharply struck medal are enhanced by attractive electric blue and russet toning on both sides. The fields of both sides have been carefully chased to smooth them out, which is noted in the PCGS description.
