1891 5C MS66+ PCGS. Challenging in high Uncirculated grades, the 1891 is a notable condition rarity in the Liberty nickel series. Glimpses of peach and blue toning flash across the lustrous, frosted surfaces of this high-end Premium Gem coin, depending on the angle to the light. The strike is uniformly sharp except at the usual trouble spot, the left ear of corn. Remarkably few examples are finer despite the mintage that approaches 17 million pieces. Population: 6 in 66+, 2 finer (4/17).
