Proof Seated Dimes
1859 10C PR65 PCGS. CAC. Final year in proof format for the Stars type. The mintage for proofs was recorded at 800 pieces, but many (hundreds) were melted as unsold at year's end. Each side displays rich blue and reddish-golden toning, yet the bright underlying mirrors in the fields make this unmistakable as a proof striking. The careful observer will also note the mint frost on the devices. Just a few tiny contact marks prevent an even higher grade. Population: 29 in 65, 16 finer. CAC: 10 in 65, 6 finer (4/17).
