Proof Liberty Nickels
1885 5C PR67+ Cameo PCGS. CAC. For a date-set collector the utility of the proof 1885 nickel is obvious as only 1.4 million circulation strikes were produced. It is tempting to call this piece untoned, but there is just the slightest hint of patina present over each side. The devices are heavily frosted with deeply reflective fields. A shallow, oval-shaped planchet flake is noted in the center of the reverse. Population: 17 in 67 (2 in 67+) Cameo, 0 finer. CAC: 14 in 67, 0 finer (4/17).
